Meet Real Teen Book Authors!
Here's your chance to meet face to face (virtually speaking!) authors who write books for teens! We feature only published authors whose books you can read at the library or purchase at the bookstore. Read their blurbs to find out their inner thoughts, what motivates them to write, and what inspired their books. Best of all, you can post questions or comments (click on the link that says "Contact this Author") to any of the authors and receive a personalized response!

Random Thoughts:

"I believe with every fiber of my being that to write for kids you have to actually be a kid. Everyone I know who writes YA is truly a teen at heart and I’m no exception. Getting to know me is confusing because I have a lot of contradictions. I love sports but I also write poetry. I’m into nature and wildlife but I also have a huge girly side who is addicted to TV shows like WHAT NOT TO WEAR or THE LOOK FOR LESS. I read psychology books for fun and I'm very into Native American religion. And of course, as you know from the booktalk, I’m a passionate fan of pro-wrestling. I’m married to my high school sweetheart, have a Burmese cat named Macoco, whom I love to spoil and also spend a lot of time these days visiting with my mother who has Alzheimer’s disease and needs nursing home care. I have a ton of friends, many of whom are students of my writing classes who have gone on to their own writing careers. I love to teach classes and give writing workshops. My goals for the future are write the most suspenseful, exciting teen thrillers ever seen on earth and to finally learn how to control my weight without starving myself— so far I’m doing better on the writing goal!

Favorite Book:

"My favorite book of all times is kind of obscure but its author isn’t! It’s an adult book written by Daniel Handler called THE BASIC EIGHT. Daniel Handler, of course, is Lemony Snicket but this book he stole many years ago for adults and it’s really in my mind the definitive teen novel. I think he’s a genius."
